Included in the framework for intervention is a very useful checklist for your classroom environment. If you follow the link 'checklists' and the the link 'click to view sample of the behavioural environment checklist' you will access an excellent tool for assessing your classroom environment.
Click here for a preview of the excellent package that identifies what your classroom climate is currently like, and provides a framework for improving. If you are then interested in using the tool, see Andrea Marsden for a code that will give you access to run the package - it is a highly regarded development tool.
Interesting research into what makes the difference in terms of the classroom environment in terms of achieving good results. Some interesting tools for analysing classroom environments are included. The research is based on mathematics teaching, but many of the messages are transferable to all classrooms.
Use these materials, from the excellent DfES Pedagogy and Practice : Teaching and Learning in Secondary Schools pack. The feedback from the pilot project was that these are seriously useful tools for developing classroom practice. Use them to support your own development - particularly useful in supporting teaching and learning targets of Performance Management and providing a focus for lesson observations. These materials are particularly successful if you work with somebody else to support you. See Andrea Marsden or Guy Shears for DVD clips.
