In September Year 9 pupils made intensive, close-up observational studies of insects, followed by a period of extensive experimentation into 3D construction techniques. They then began to develop design ideas in pairs, before selecting appropriate building methods to make their final headdress.

To celebrate the successful completion of the Insect Headdress project run jointly by Mr Tinkler and Miss Leadbeater, year 9 pupils participated in a photo and film shoot. Pupils got into the spirit of things by wearing clothes and makeup designed to complement their hats to fabulous effect.

Following the main photo shoot in Lower Hall, pupils could be seen parading their creations past the planets and modelling their hats as they ambled through the trees in the secret garden.
