I am writing to inform you that Year 10 students have been given permission to wear a black cardigan or V-neck jumper from 11th June 2012. They have been told very clearly that this privilege extends only to the wearing of a plain black cardigan or jumper with the school logo on, which is available from Clive Marks, Mansuri and Midland Schoolwear – any other variations are not permitted. However, your daughter may continue to wear her green sweatshirt should she prefer to do so. Student leaders may wear their grey student leader jumpers or cardigans that have been bought for them. Bottle green skirts or trousers remain uniform for all years – please note that black is not an acceptable colour.
Shoes for school should be black with a flat or low heel. Trainers of any description are not permitted. Boots (leather or leather look) may be worn in the winter term, Ugg boots are not permitted. Any girls in incorrect footwear will be asked to change into pumps.
The rules regarding jewellery are the same throughout the school, i.e. a watch, one plain ring, one pair of small plain ear studs (not hoops) and one small plain nose stud are all that are permitted. These rules have been designed with both safety and security in mind for your daughter.
We would welcome any green jumpers that are in good condition to be handed into the Head of Year 10 office as reserves for future use. Please encourage your daughter to donate her jumper if it is not needed anymore.
We always expect our year group to set themselves high standards but feel this even more so as they are now the older students and will be setting an example to the younger pupils in main school.
Thank you in anticipation of your support in ensuring that all Swanshurst students uphold high standards of uniform and appearance.
Yours sincerely
