|
How do pathways choices work? |
| |
Pathways choices are subjects that you choose to study. Some choices are worth up to 4 GCSEs at grade C. You will need to make choices as indicated on the Choices form. It may not be possible to give everyone their first choice. |
| |
|
What should I think about when making my choices? |
| |
When making your choices you should think about: - how well you have achieved in each subject so far - how much you enjoy and are interested in each subject - what you might need for a future career - the type of work you must produce during the course - how the course is assessed - how well your subjects mix together or support each other. |
| |
|
What should I NOT think about? |
| |
When choosing your subjects you should not think about:
- who is teaching the subject this year - it may not be them next year! - what your friends are choosing - they will not have the same needs as you! |
| |
|
Are there any choices not allowed? |
| |
- You may only choose German, Spanish or Urdu if you have studied it during Year 9. - You should not choose subjects that are too similar. For example, if you choose GCSE Business Studies you cannot choose another Business course as well. - You may only choose Separate Science if you have worked at high enough levels in Year 9. - You will not be allowed to choose the Vocational Course + CoPE unless it is offered to you. |
| |
|
Where can I find help? |
| |
You can get help from a variety of sources. You can:
- read the information provided by school - talk to your subject teachers - talk to your parents - talk to your form tutor - talk to Mrs Beckford, our 14-19 Coordinator. |
| |
|
It is very important to think carefully before making your choices. |
| |
Next year’s timetable may depend on choices made now so it is very unlikely that you will be allowed to change your mind later. |
