Please read all the information here very carefully.
As a Year 9 pupil at Swanshurst you are approaching the time when you must decide upon your course of study for Years 10 and 11. This booklet together with the on-line version at www.swanshurst.org/pathways sets out the range of courses available to you and offers you some advice as to how you can make the best decisions for your future.
You will see that there are certain subjects (the core) that everyone will study. These include English and English Literature, Mathematics, Science, Physical Education, Religious Studies, ICT, and our Development and Enrichment Programme.
You will need to decide upon courses chosen from a wide range of pathways, set out in the letter to your parents and on the Choices Form you will receive at the Year 9 Information Evening.
It is important to bear in mind when you are making your choice that your overall curriculum should be balanced. You are a 'whole' person and your education should reflect the need to develop this. You may not have a clear career pathway mapped out and, even if you have, you need to give yourself the freedom to vary this in the future.
The decisions that you make may have significant implications for your future. Take time to talk to your parents and your teachers before coming to your conclusions. Take time to think carefully about your future career and make sure that when you decide upon your course, it is one that is appropriate, one which you will enjoy and one at which you can succeed.
