Struggling to decide which pathway you want to follow? Need some advice on whether to take Dance or not? Look no further! If you enjoy dancing, creating and performing then dance is for you.

Dance is a fantastic way to experience learning outside of the classroom setting, where you are encouraged to think outside the box and where wild imaginations are welcome!

Topics Covered

Component One: The arts is a tough business to get into! We want to give you the best possible start, so you will write a letter of application to one of the big schools to help get you started and support you on the audition pathway. You will also learn 2 technical dance pieces.

Component Two: Lights, camera, action! You will gain an insight into putting a production together including costume, make up, staging and creating your own group piece.

Component Three: We will study a range a dance of styles and you will choose 2 to perform in your own class production!



Component 1: Exploring The Performing Arts. Controlled assessment: 30% Internally assessed

Component 2: Developing skills and techniques in Performing Arts. Controlled assessment: 30% Internally assessed

Component 3: Performing to a brief: 40% Externally assessed

Course Progression

After completing your BTEC Tech in Performing Arts course you can continue onto Level 3 BTEC National in Performing Arts. or A level dance.

Career Opportunities

With creativity and flexibility under your belt the world is your oyster! You could also go on to further careers in teaching, choreographing, a professional dancer, entertaining, arts administrator, movement therapist or physiotherapist.
