Struggling to decide which pathway you want to follow? Need some advice on whether to take History or not? Bear in mind that History is all about people - as a result it will prepare you for any career or future studies that you want to do.

 

As well as making progress you will travel back in time and find out about the lives of all sorts of fascinating individuals throughout the ages. More importantly it’s great fun and probably the most interesting subject around.

Topics Covered

We will be studying four units: American 1840-1895 expansion and consolidation, Elizabethan England, Britain: health and the people 1000 to the present day and conflict in South East Asia.

 

These four units will build on the content from lower down the school but will also provide new and exciting content for the students to study.

Assessment

There will be two examinations, both lasting two hours. The questions will be equally spilt between source and non-source questions. These will be in the same style as the questions you have already done lower down the school.

Course Progression

The course contributes to a broad and balanced choice that allows access to all level 3 courses.

 

Specifically you can also progress to  A Level History at Swanshurst Sixth Form where we study Britain 1485-1603 and the Soviet Union 1917-1953.
