Suspended Industrial Action

Dear parents and carers,

Re: Suspended industrial action

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and accompanying Q&A document from 22nd August. Part of the letter set out the disappointing decision made by the National Education Union (NEU) to propose further dates of strike action in September to its members at Swanshurst. The full letter can be found here: https://www.swanshurst.org/start-of-term-updates-september-20242/2000.html

On 15th August, we made a proposal to the NEU to put in place a conditional pause to the process of converting to become an academy to allow time for further discussion with them to resolve the dispute reasonably and effectively. We made this proposal to the NEU so that they could suspend their decision to strike and prevent this having a negative impact on the education of your children and on you as a family.

We are pleased that the NEU have accepted our proposal and have confirmed they are suspending proposed strike action for 6th September whilst we attempt to resolve the current dispute with them. At this stage, we cannot confirm regarding future strike dates but hope to do so soon.

On Friday 6th September, school will be open as normal to all pupils.

As and when we receive any further updates, we will let you know.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email enquiry@swanshurst.org.

Your sincerely

Mr M Dunn
