Swanshurst Values

We have a set of Swanshurst Values which are at the heart of all we do. We aim to develop learners who are:

  • Aspirational

  • Resilient

  • Reflective

  • Creative

  • Confident Communicators

  • Kind & Respectful

  • Independent

We also ensure our students understand the 'fundamental British values' of

  • democracy.
  • the rule of law.
  • individual liberty.
  • mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith.

Rewards

Recognition Points are be based on Swanshurst Values and given to all pupils who perform above and beyond what is expected of them. Attendance rewards are still given on a weekly basis for 100% attendance per week.

Pupil Pledge

Pupil Pledge linked to Swanshurst Values. All pupils in each year have a list of 40 activities which gives opportunities for pupils to develop their talents and interests extending pupils beyond the academic.

Outstanding Attendance

Outstanding attendance/behaviour is key to academic success and as a school we recognise outstanding attendance through our rewards process linked to our Rewards Ladder. Pupils are recognised for outstanding attendance in our celebration assemblies and end of year trips. Outstanding attendance is also recognised via:

  • Weekly recognition points
  • Queue jump passes for the canteen
  • Half termly attendance promotions

Additional Head of Year Recognition

Heads of Year regularly send postcards home in recognition of individual successes. Each Head of Year runs their own special reward initiative, for example we have the ‘Wow’ award in Year 7 and Year 8 and the ‘Inspirational Woman’ award in Year 11. This is where students are nominated by their teacher and the most deserving, as determined by their Head of Year, gets the award. We also run additional rewards throughout the year linked to the Swanshurst Values. Students are recognised for achieving the Swanshurst Values and are put into a draw to receive prizes.
