Year 11 Progression Process

Dear Parent/Carer

I am writing to you with a timeline of events for progression to the Sixth Form at Swanshurst School.

I am sure you are aware that we had an outstanding set of A level and vocational results this summer, with our highest percentage of students achieving A*/A and Distinction* grades. We also had a record number of students go on to study at the UK’s top universities, including Cambridge University.

September/October 2022
Look at the Sixth Form area of the school website, with a focus on the subjects on offer and entry requirements. Other local providers will also start to advertise their open day events.

October 2022
Students complete their ‘Progression Form’, stating their subject choices and thoughts on destinations at this point.

Thursday 20th January 2022 – Sixth Form Open Evening
Departments will be available to answer any questions and provide course information for subjects offered. We look forward to seeing you all at this event. More details to follow. (Please note this is subject to any Covid safety measures in place at the time).

Wednesday 26th January 2022 – PPE results day and progression interview
Students will collect the results of their PPE (mock) examinations. They will then have an interview with a senior member of staff to discuss their thoughts and choices for their Post 16 pathway.

February 2022 - ‘Progression Month’
Students will receive a calendar of events for ‘Progression Month’ during which departments will run workshops, sessions or lessons for students interested in their subject. This will be an excellent opportunity to finalise their subject choices.

Please note that there is no application form to complete for progression to Swanshurst Sixth Form. Places will be offered to all Year 11 students meeting entry requirements who wish to achieve their full potential and share in our ethos and values.

Yours sincerely
