Dear parents and carers,
I wanted to write with an update on developments with the NEU in relation to the proposed industrial action on Wednesday 11th September.
As you know from my letter of 3rd September, strike action that had been planned for Friday 6th September had been called off by the NEU in recognition of our proposal to pause the process of Swanshurst converting to become an academy to allow for further discussion.
We met with the NEU on Friday for a day of talks at which we reiterated our assurances around their main concern, which is the protection of staff terms and conditions. We have made clear throughout the whole process that staff terms and conditions will be protected and took the opportunity to restate this once again on Friday.
The NEU will now meet with their members tomorrow after school, after which we will then be notified as to whether the strike planned for Wednesday has been called off or not. As soon as we are informed, we will of course let you know.
We very much hope that the strikes will be called off, but in the event they do go ahead, we will be reverting to the plan we set out here: WMAT Q&A | Swanshurst School
As ever, please do get in touch if you have any questions, but in the meantime thank you for your understanding.
Your sincerely,
Mr M Dunn
Head Teacher
