Swanshurst School - a Specialist Science College

Swanshurst is a comprehensive school for girls situated in south Birmingham.
We have 1800 students with 250 in our mixed sixth form.

Swanshurst was named in 2001 as one of the best 100 schools in the country
by Mike Tomlinson, Chief Inspector of Schools,
and is an innovative Beacon school with DfES Training School status.

Good luck to Year 9 in their SATs this week !

If you are looking for a sixth form place to study next year, then contact us to come for an interview.

“What business have we with Art at all unless all can share it” – William Morris. Diners have been very complimentary about the exhibition of art by Swanshurst students currently being hosted at the renowned K2 restaurant in Moseley Village. The exhibition runs until the end of May …..so if you fancy a curry, or curry, jazz and art, pop in on a Wednesday evening.

We are delighted with the published DfES league tables which show that Swanshurst has achieved 12th place in Birmingham [excluding selective and independent schools]. It is tribute to the continuing hard work of our students and staff. Congratulations to everyone concerned. Very well done to Year 11 - 66% achieved at least 5 A*-C in their GCSEs. 100% achieved at least one GCSE and 99% gained 5 or more grades at G and above. 53% achieved the new government measure of 5 A*-C incl English and Maths.
